Priorities for National Celebration; International Mother Language Day.

Generally, ‘International Mother Language Day’ is not celebrated widely alike other days like valentine day, New Year, Christmas Day, Birthday, Anniversary Day, Baby Shower Day and so on. The other days like Democracy day, Mourning day, Independence day etc. are also not given the higher priorities. The paradigm of national celebrations are given less scopes and are shifted towards the modern entertainments and luxury. Thousands of our sons and daughters fought for the protection of the national identities. They knew that national security is the security for the future generations, i.e. the security for their sons and grandsons, which will keep them as well as their spouses safe and give them the nights of fearless. Keeping this in mind, they sacrificed their interests and fought for the national interests like in preservation of languages, cultures, religions and harmony.

Today, thousands of our sons and daughters are leaving country every day. They leave the country for reasons like for getting proper education, jobs and sometimes recognition too. The rural villages of our countries are becoming dessert day by day. Young boys and girls are departing from their villages leaving their old parents and grandparents. Nowadays, the rural villages lack to hear the voice of youths so, are more deprived day by day. We are scare that will our children be back to our home one day and listen our stories or not.

The knowledge related to national pride should be taught to our children from their childhood. This responsibilities goes directly to the parents and the teaches. Rather than other celebrations parents as well as the teachers of kindergarden or school should celebrate these days involving the kids in various activities like asking them to write poem or essays or drawings with paints, make play cards, storytelling, taking out to the celebration sites as an excursion etc. Similarly, should be carried-out in different forms in higher studies as well as in the Universities. They should be taught properly that the histories are very important and should not be overlooked. Either of the national celebration days has huge value in our personal as well as national identities.

International Mother Language Day is celebrated on 21st February throughout the world. It is celebrated in various ways as per the nationalities. We devote our love and respect to those who played the significant role in establishing and introducing their own language among the world. Today, more than 3000 languages are going to be distinct, it’s due to insufficient attention and the false politics towards the language. A small country like Nepal has more than 123 languages where all the languages are given the space and are recognized by the government.

In the context modern days, cross boarders business, travel, marriage etc. are being very common. One person of one corner of the globe is doing business with other person of another corner. It’s the language that brought them together irrespective to religion, culture and nationalities. So, let’s keep pride upon our language and respect other’s language too.
